About the Centre for Juridical Studies ( A Constituent Centre of Dibrugarh University)

The Centre for Juridical Studies, Dibrugarh University was established in the year 2006 to impart 5 Year Integrated Legal Education with conferment of the BA.LL.B. Degree under Semester System to be completed in ten Semesters.

The Objectives:

  • To assimilate, create and disseminate knowledge in the field of legal education.
  • To contribute towards social development and nation building process though inculcation of the values of good citizenship, national unity and integrity.
  • To train and develop human resources providing thereby employment opportunities and scope for social development.

Assistant Professors [Full Time]

1. B.A.LL.B (H)

Mode: Five Year Integrated B.A.LL.B. (H) Under semester system
The five year B.ALL.B (H) course offers honors in Political Science and Constitutional Law.
Eligibility for Admission: A candidate for admission to the Five- year B.A.LL.B. (Hons) Course shall have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination securing at least 45% of the total marks in aggregate. Provided that there shall be a relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC candidates.

Admission Procedure: The admission to the Programme is made only on merit basis through an Admission Test and Viva-voce Examination.

Intake: 60

2. Audit Course on Intellectual Property Rights

Mode: One semester programme
Eligibility for Admission: All students pursuing a regular degree (Under Graduate or Post Graduate) programme of Dibrugarh University.

Intake: 30

Outreach Activities

The center has established a Legal Aid Clinic in order to organize legal awareness camps in and around Dibrugarh University. Since the inception of the legal aid clinic the Centre has been regularly organizing legal aid camps. The faculty members and the students of the Center have also been delivering legal awareness talks in different forums in different capacities. The legal aid centre has also been recognized by the District Legal Service Authority, Dibrugarh, Government of Assam to jointly organize various Programmes relating to legal awareness. The Centre for Juridical Studies, in association with Equal Opportunity Cell Dibrugarh University and Dibrugarh District Administration, organized a flood relief camp at Bogibeel area under Dibrugarh district and distributed relief materials to the flood victims in 2015.

Journal

The Centre has been publishing an annual research journal titled Dibrugarh University Law Journal since 2009. The Journal was made Peer Reviewed in 2014. The Advisory board of the journal comprises faculties from both National and International fields. The Journal intends to provide an academic platform to Scholars to analyse various legal issues pertaining to socio-economic and political affairs of the society.
