ABOUT THE CENTRE

Established in 2010, the Centre for Social Work Studies (CSWS) at Dibrugarh University is a premier institution in Northeast India committed to advancing professional education in social work. The Centre strives to produce ethically grounded, socially responsible, and professionally competent social workers who can respond effectively to emerging societal challenges.

CSWS offers a unique blend of classroom learning and field-based practice, ensuring that students not only grasp theoretical concepts but also apply them meaningfully in real-world contexts. The curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, empathy, and problem-solving skills essential for engaging with individuals, families, communities, and organizations.

With a participatory and interdisciplinary teaching-learning model, the Centre promotes academic excellence through seminars, special lectures, research projects, and collaborations with national and international organizations. It also emphasizes experiential learning through fieldwork, rural and nature camps, and internships across diverse geographical and social contexts.

Over the years, CSWS has emerged as a vibrant hub for social innovation, rights-based advocacy, and inclusive development, nurturing professionals who are equipped to lead with compassion and integrity in both local and global spheres.
