Dibrugarh University Research Scholars’ Association commemorated the 6th death anniversary of Gaurab Gogoi

The 6th death anniversary of the late Gaurab Gogoi, former General Secretary of the “Dibrugarh University Postgraduate Students’ Union” and former President of the “Dibrugarh University Research Scholars’ Association”, was commemorated at the Jo:saag Canteen of Dibrugarh University on May 13, 2024. The event was organized by the Dibrugarh University Research Scholars’ Association (DURSA), 2024–25, in association with “Gaurab Sanmiloto Samaj.” The meeting also condoled the death of Padmashri Birubala Rabha, a social reformer who fought against superstition throughout her life. In the beginning of the program, Dr. David Kardang, Professor, Department of Life Sciences, Dibrugarh University, lit lanterns and laid flowers at the portraits of the two people. Then all the people present at the event offered tributes to Gaurab Gogoi and Birubala Rabha. All present observed a minute of silence in honor of the two people. Afterwards, Professor Dr. David Kardang recalled the determination, intellectual thoughts, and works of his former student, Gaurav Gogoi. Dr. Pranjit Kalita, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Geology, Dibrugarh University, spoke about various aspects of Gaurab Gogoi’s personality and recalled his devoted work till his death. It is worth mentioning that Gaurab Gogoi, a brilliant researcher and promising student leader, never gave up his research and social work despite suffering from brain tumour. He earned the respect of everyone from the Vice-Chancellor to the students due to his attractive personality. Dr. Joydeep Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, DDR college, Chabua, Dr. Lakhyajit Buragohain, President, Gaurab Sanmilito Samaj and Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese, Duliajan College, Dr. Doly Chutia, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese, Dibru College, Gautam Hazarika, Scientist C, ICMR, Krishnarjun Borah, Scientist B, ICMR, Members of Gaurab Sanmilito Samaj; Dimonjyoti Bora, President and Jyotirmoyee Saikia, General Secretary as well as other members of DURSA, research scholars, and students from various departments were present in the program and offered their tribute.
