Department of Physics, D.U. hosted the ISRO START (Space science and Technology Awareness Training) 24 programme from April 24 to May 10, 2024

ISRO START (Space science and Technology Awareness Training) 24 programme was hosted in the Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University from April 24 to May 10, 2024. The START is an introductory level online training in space science and technology for the under-graduate and post-graduate students of science and technology. The Science Programme Office, ISRO HQ in association with Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO, Dehradun initiated the online training programme START in 2023. The programme was inaugurated online by Dr. S. Somanath, Chairperson ISRO. Other dignitaries like Shantanu Bhatawdekar, Scientific Secretary ISRO and A.S. Kiran Kumar, Chairperson Apex Science Board ISRO also attended the ceremony.   Dr. T.P. Das, director Science Programme Office, ISRO provided the context for the “The Exploration of the Solar System” which was the theme for this year was. Many distinguished scientists and Principal Investigators of ISRO missions including Prof. Arnab Rai, IISc Bangalore, Smitha Thampi, SPL, VSSC, K. Sankarasubramanian, URSC Bangalore, and Varun Sheel, PRL Ahmedabad delivered lectures during the 16 day programme. A total of 24 students from the Department of Physics participated in the training and attended live streaming in the Department smart classroom. Dr. Bitap Raj Kalita, Department of Physics coordinated the programme.
