Dibrugarh University International Literature Festival 2024 Concludes on High Note

The Dibrugarh University International Literature Festival, a vibrant convergence of literary minds from around the world, drew to a magnificent close at the Rangghar auditorium of the university on March 21, 2024. This celebration of literature, dialogue, and cultural exchange, jointly organized by Dibrugarh University and the Foundation for Arts, Culture and Literature (FOCAL), a non-profit organization based in Guwahati, witnessed enthusiastic participation from India and thirteen other nations.

With a diverse gathering comprising writers, poets, scholars, and literary enthusiasts, the festival provided a platform for meaningful discourse and exploration of ideas. Over the course of three days, a total of 1,272 participants, including teachers, researchers, and students, engaged in various sessions and events. Notably, 800 participants represented Dibrugarh University, while 310 hailed from colleges affiliated with the university, and 162 attendees came from neighboring educational institutions such as North Lakhimpur University, Arunachal University, Assam Women’s University, Cotton University, and Sikkim University. The festival also welcomed students from Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, and Women’s College, Shillong, enriching the exchange of perspectives and experiences.

At the closing ceremony, which was graced by esteemed writers, educators, researchers, and literary enthusiasts, Vice-Chancellor in-charge Professor Jahnabi Gogoi expressed gratitude to the global literary community for their invaluable contributions to the festival’s success. Dr. Paramananda Sonowal, Registrar of Dibrugarh University, honored foreign writers with traditional gamochas on behalf of the university, symbolizing appreciation and goodwill.

The event concluded on a note of camaraderie and intellectual enrichment, reflecting the spirit of collaboration and cultural exchange fostered by the festival.
