Dibrugarh University International Literature Festival 2024 begins

The Dibrugarh University International Literature Festival, 2024 organised by Dibrugarh University in collaboration with Foundation for Culture, Arts and Literature (FOCAL) began in Dibrugarh on March 19, 2024.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Rangghar Auditorium of Dibrugarh University, witnessed the gathering of 85 writers hailing from 14 countries, setting the stage for a remarkable celebration of diverse literary traditions.

Renowned authors, poets, and intellectuals from varied backgrounds converge at this festival, catalyzing cross-cultural exchange and mutual understanding. By bringing together such diverse voices, the event reaffirms Dibrugarh University’s steadfast commitment to promoting intellectual discourse and nurturing creativity.
The festival’s agenda includes a diverse array of activities such as panel discussions, in-conversation sessions, reading sessions, book signings, workshops, and cultural programs. These events will unfold over three days, culminating on March 21, providing ample opportunities for engagement and learning.

The Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, extended a warm welcome to esteemed guests including Chief Guest Damodar Mauzo, a recipient of the Jnanpith Award and Sahitya Akademi Award, noted for his contributions as a short story writer, novelist, critic, and scriptwriter. The ceremony also honored Padma Bhushan Jahnu Barua, a distinguished film director, as the guest of honor, alongside other dignitaries and participants.

This literature festival is poised to serve as a bridge connecting the student community of Dibrugarh University and its affiliated colleges directly with the vast realm of global literature and intellectualism, fostering a spirit of exploration and exchange that transcends boundaries.
