Department of Education, Dibrugarh University and National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun jointly organized two number of 7 days teacher training workshop for regular teachers of schools of Dibrugarh district from 15th to 21stMarch 2023 on the topic “Orientation & Mobility, Work Readiness, and Activities of Daily Living skills Training for Regular Teachers”with the financial support of NIEPVD, Dehradun.The Inauguration Ceremonyof the programme was organized at Indira Miri Conference hall, Dibrugarh University in gracious presence of Prof. Jiten Hazarika, honourable Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, In-charge, North East Projects, NIEVPD, Dehradun, Prof. Neeta Kalita Baruah, Dean, Faculty of Education, Dibrugarh University, Prof. Krishna Prasad Gogoi, Head, Department of Education, DU, Deans of Faculties of Dibrugarh University, Faculty Members of Department of Education and Teacher Participants. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Amar Upadhyaya, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Education, Dibrugarh University. During the 7 days training, 60 number of teacher participants were trained on the theme of the workshop. Dr. Deiva Jayaraman, L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, Mr. Konsam Sadananda Singh, Secretary, Welfare association for the Blind, Manipur, Mr. Naresh Joshi, Administrator, Moran Blind School, Mr. Devilal, Orientation & Mobility expert, NIEPVD, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, NIEPVD and Dr. Pranjal Buragohain, Department of Education DU were acted as Resource Person during the workshop. On 17th March a field trip was also organized at Moran Blind school to give a practical and first-hand experiences to the teacher participants on the theme of the workshop. The valedictory programme was held at Indira Miri conference hall on 21st March 2023 with the gracious presence Prof. M. Hazarika, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, DU, Prof. P K Gogoi, Department of Education, DU, Ms. Binti Sarma, Inspector of Schools, Dibrugarh District, Mr. Devilal, Instructor, NIEPVD, Dehradun and faculty member of the Department of Education, DU. Dr. Amar Upadhyaya, Coordinator of the workshop offered vote of thanks for the successful completion of the programme. Mr. Abhinandan Konwar and Mr. Utpal Bora, Research Scholars of Dept of Education, DU were engaged as volunteers of the programme.
