DST sponsored “One-week hands- on Training Program on Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Techniques for Basic Research and Development”

Department of Chemistry, Dibrugarh University successfully conducted One-week hands- on Training Program on Sophisticated Analytical Instrumentation Techniques for Basic Research and Development from 24th August to 30th of August. The program was aimed to build human resources and knowledge capacity through open access science and technology infrastructure across the country under the banner of ‘Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific & Technological Infrastructure (STUTI)’, Department of Science and Technology (DST) Govt. of India which is implemented under the Program Management Unit(PMU), National Institute of Technology, Agartala.
The week-long training program was inaugurated by the hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University Prof. Jiten Hazarika, held at Indira Miri Conference Hall. The ceremony was graced by the presence Prof. Deepak Chetia, Dean, Research and Development, Dibrugarh University; and chaired by Prof. Geetika Borah, HOD, Department of Chemistry. Dr. Kalyanjyoti Deori, Joint Coordinator, briefly described about the program and Dr. Jitu Ranjan Chetia, Joint Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Subhrajit Debnath, Member of PMU, NIT Agartala gave a brief description about STUTI-DST initiatives. Besides Department of Chemistry, the training sessions which includes theory as well as hands on practices was held at Dept. of Physics, Dept of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dept of Life Sciences and DUIET. The training was delivered by Prof. Dipak Chetia and Dr P Rajak of Pahermaceutical Sciences, Prof. D Sarma, Dr. P. Khakhlary, Dr B. Chetia.and Dr R Kar of Dept of Chemistry, Dr (Ms) G. Sarma of DUIET. Dr. (Ms). B. Pathak, Dr A T T Mostako and Dr P. Dutta of dept of Physics and Dr.(Ms) M. Muzari of dept of Life Sciences. The training was focused on the instruments HPTLC, Particle Size Analyzer/Zetasizer, XRD, UV-visible Spectrophotometer, FTIR Spectrometer SEM and SEM-EDAX, NMR Spectrometer, Bio-aerosol Spectrometer, Pollen Sampler Photoluminescence Spectrometer, LCMS, GCMS, HPCC, UV-visible solid spectrophotometer, Multi-Purpose Coating and Evaporation Technique, PCR Thermal Cycler for DNA Amplification and Quantification available in the University. On the last day, a field trip to BCPL (Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited) and Bogibeel bridge was organised for all the participants. A total of 37 Participants from various institutions like E.C.College, Uttar Pradesh, J.S University, Uttar Pradesh, B.N College, Dhubri, Tripura University, Rajiv Gandhi University, NERIST, Arunachal Pradesh, ACBR, University of Delhi, Kaliabor College, Royal Global University, M.R.M College, Bihar, NEHU, Kokrajhar Govt. College, Gauhati University, AAU, Jorhat, Tezpur University, M.D.K.G.College, Tinsukia College, Sibsagar College and Dibrugarh University actively took part in the program. All the participants were rewarded with certificate of completion in the valedictory session.
