Investor Awareness Programme for the Students of CMS, D.U.

BSE as part of its Investor Awareness Programme conducted webinars on the topic Principles of Investing for the students of the Centre in multiple batches over the Google Meet platform on July 27 & 28, 2021. The objective of the programme was to introduce students to the world of investing, with emphasis on how to choose the right company and the common mistakes made by the investors. The programme was conducted for three separate batches to keep the number of students within 100 in each batch. The first batch comprised of the students of MBA (FT) 2nd semester, MTTM 2nd semester and MBA (PT) 1st & 3rd years and the programme was held on 27 July, 2021 from 2 p.m. The second batch comprised of all the students of BBA (2nd, 4th and 6th semesters) and the programme was held on 27 July, 2021 from 4 p.m. The third and final batch comprised of the students of MBA (FT) 4th semester, MTTM 4th semester and MBA (PT) 2nd year and the programme was held on 28 July, 2021 from 2 p.m.

The resource person for the programme was Ms. Marina Jose Kanjikal from BSE. She has done her BSc (Mathematics) and MBA (Finance) from the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. She used her personal and practical experiences to talk on the subject and answered various queries from the participants. The participation of the students in all the three batches was encouraging as was reflected from the questions that were put to the resource person. The questions varied from investing in specific companies to cryptocurrencies. Ms. Kanjikal opined that investment needs to be started as early as possible and as soon as students start earning. She also warned against investing only in the stock market and asked the students to spread out their investments in different investment avenues. She was happy to know that a few students of the Centre are already investing in the stock markets.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Arup Goswami and the hosting was done by Dr. Barnali Patowary. The Chairperson, Prof. Kumud Chandra Goswami while being present in the second batch programme requested the BSE to conduct an advanced level workshop on stock market investment for interested students. Ms. Kanjikal said that she would definitely put across the proposal to the BSE. The second batch programme was live streamed over the Centre’s YouTube Channel.
