The Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University (CMSDU) observed its 15th Alumni Meet on 10 November, 2019 through Samannay – the CMSDU Alumni Association. 77 alumni attended the meet. Set up in 2006, the Alumni Association today has 520 life members out of the Centre’s present total alumni count of 1238 till date. The inaugural session of the Meet was presided over by the President of Samannay, Mr. Abdul Rakib (Senior Manager, Cee Pee). Dr. Pratim Barua, founder faculty member and currently Associate Professor of the Centre was also in the dais. Mr. Anshuman Bordoloi (Chief Manager, SBI) and Dr. Biraj Hazarika (Manager, OIL), former Presidents of the Association were felicitated at the inaugural session. Expose – the alumni mouthpiece was also released by the alumni of the MBA (FT) 2009 August Batch, the sponsors of the 15th Alumni Meet. Prizes and Certificates were also distributed to winners of the SANMILAN 2019 Tagline Competition organized by the Association in February this year. Along with speeches from the President and Dr. Barua, a few alumni also spoke.
The General Body meeting was held in the post lunch session in which the General Secretary of the Association, Dr. Himadri Barman gave an overview of the working of the Association and the many challenges faced. The meeting ratified a few changes to the constitution of the Association and elected a new executive body. Mr. Rakib was re-elected as the President along with Dr. Himadri Barman and Dr. Pratim Barua as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Mr. Chiranjeev Saikia (Regional Labour Commissioner, GoI) was selected as the Vice President. The other portfolio holders who were selected are Mr. Ringu Pillai (Independent Consultant) as Secretary, Extension Activities, Mr. Ranjan Pathak (Sales Manager, Reliance Jio) as Convenor, Chapters, Mr. Ashim Kumar Gogoi (Manager, ICICI Bank) as Convenor, Alumni Events and Mr. Sagar Prasad Dutta (Businessman) as Convenor, Alumni Activities.
After the General Body meeting, the Alumni Open House was held where the Alumni interacted with the students and shared nostalgia. The Alumni Meet ended in the evening with lighting of candles in the Centre’s campus.
