ONGC GOLD MEDAL AWARD CEREMONY

The Department of Applied Geology, Dibrugarh University organized the ONGC GOLD MEDAL AWARD CEREMONY on 23rd September, 2019 at 11.00 AM at the Conference Hall of the Department. Under the banner of Industry-Academia interface the ONGC GOLD MEDAL was instituted in the year 2011 in this Department carrying an amount of Rupees 1.0 lakh (one lakh), which is offered to the topper of final (4th) semester M. Sc. Applied Geology programme of each year.

The event started with the university anthem. Prof. Kalpana Deka Kalita, HOD of the department welcomed the guest and expressed thanks to ONGCL for constituting the Gold Medal and scholarship in the department. She also mentioned that under the banner of Industry –Academia interface different industries have been offering scholarships and research grants in the department. Oil India limited, Duliajan has sponsored sixty lakhs rupees for promoting academic research in the department related to oil industry and NHPC has offered two scholarships carrying an amount of Rs.7000/ per month for two years. Prof. Ranjit Tamuli, Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University addressed the gatherings mentioning this type of fellowship encourages students to work hard to do better. Mr. Puneet Suri, ED- Basin Manager, Assam & Assam-Arakan Basin, Jorhat graced the occasion and  presented the award to the topper of 4th (final) semester Ms. Gurpreet Kour of M. Sc. Applied Geology programme of the year 2016. On behalf of ONCGL Mr. Suri congratulated Ms. Gurpreet and wishes other students also to excel in life. Dr. Manas Kumar Sarma, Chief General Manager and Mr. Tridiv Hazarika, Deputy General Manager, (CSR & CC), Personal Affairs Department, Oil India Limited, Duliajan, attended the ceremony as chief guest. Ms. Pallabi Borkakoty, Assistant Professor of the department proposed vote of thanks and Dr. Ratamali Muchahary, Assistant Professor of the department anchored the programme.
