DU deeply mourns the demise of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee

The Dibrugarh University fraternity deeply mourns the passing away of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister of India. An Indian politician who thrice served as the Prime Minister of India, first for a term of 13 days in 1996, for a period of eleven months from 1998 to 1999, and then for a full term from 1999 to 2004 breathed his last on August 16, 2018. He was conferred India’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna in 2015. Born to Krishna Devi and Krishna Bihari Vajpayee, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also known for his poetic and oratorical skills.

On the announcement of the national 7-day mourning, the Registrar, Dibrugarh University, Dr. H.C. Mahanta and other Officers of the University Administration along with the employees and students of the University paid homage to the iconic leader on August 17, 2018, in the Administrative Building of the University at 9.30 am. The National Flag and the Dibrugarh University Flag will be flown at half mast during the period of 7-day national mourning.
