Dibrugarh University Celebrates 72 Independence Day

Dibrugarh University celebrated the 72 Independence Day on its campus. The National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Ranjit Tamuli, Vice Chancellor, accompanied by Dr. Hari Mahanta, Registrar, Dibrugarh University. The event was held at 8.00 am, in the front of the Core Building of the Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology. The Vice Chancellor and the Registrar took the ceremonial salute in the March Past participated by the students of various Departments and the Centre for Studies, students from the University Model School and from other Schools from neighbourhood areas, the Security Staff, the NCC and the NSS volunteers of the University.

The Deans, senior Professors and other faculty members, Officers, Employees, Research Scholars, Students and people from the neighbouring areas of the University participated in the celebration. Dr. Ranjit Tamuli, Vice Chancellor, addressed the gathering and paid tribute to the freedom fighters of the nation. One of the foreign students from the Centre for Social Work Studies, Miss Tfadzwa Emmaculate Nyengera who hails from Harare, Zimbabwe gave a speech on the occasion.

The celebration was marked by the demonstrations of the skills of Karate, Wrestling and Yoga asanas by the students from the Centre for Studies in Physical Education and Sports. Later a friendly football match was played between the Vice Chancellor’s XI Team and the Registrar’s XI Team. In the evening, the film ‘Piyoli Phukan’ was screened at the front of the central cafeteria- the Jo:Sag.
