Centre for Computer Science and Applications, D.U. organizes a One Week National Workshop on Academic Writing Using LaTeX in online mode from June 1 to June 7, 2023

In a bid to enhance the academic writing skills of researchers, scholars, and students across India, a one-week online national workshop on Academic Writing Using LaTeX was conducted from June 1 to June 7, 2023, by the Centre for Computer Science and Applications, Dibrugarh University. The workshop, attended by 70 participants from various states of India, proved to be a significant platform for learning and sharing knowledge about LaTeX, a typesetting system widely used in scientific and technical documents.

The inaugural ceremony of the workshop was graced by Prof. Dipak Chetia, Dean of Research and Development, at Dibrugarh University. Prof. Chetia highlighted the importance of academic writing and emphasized the role of LaTeX in producing high-quality research papers, theses, and dissertations. His insightful speech motivated the participants to make the most of the workshop and enhance their academic writing skills.

Over the course of the week, the participants delved into various aspects of LaTeX, including document structure, formatting, mathematical equations, tables, figures, and citations. The sessions were conducted by esteemed resource persons from two esteemed institutions, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) and Dibrugarh University. The resource persons, experts in the field, provided valuable insights, practical demonstrations, and hands-on exercises to help the participants understand and apply LaTeX effectively in their academic work.

The valedictory note was delivered by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Prof. Jiten Hazarika, who commended the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication to improving their academic writing skills. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of effective communication and scholarly writing in academic pursuits and encouraged the participants to continue honing their skills beyond the workshop.

The workshop concluded on a high note, with participants expressing their satisfaction with the knowledge gained and the interactive nature of the sessions. The participants also expressed their gratitude to the coordinators of the event for their exceptional coordination and the enriching learning environment created throughout the workshop.
