The volunteers of NSS PG Unit and the students of Department of Education celebrated World Environment Day 2023 at Department of Education, DU. The Local fruit Garden “Orchard” being developed jointly by NSS PG Unit and Department of Education since 2021-22 was inaugurated on 5th June 2023. The programme was attended by Prof. M. Hazarika, Former Dean, Faculty of Education, DU, Prof. Neeta Kalita Baruah, Dean, Faculty of Education, DU, Prof. P K Gogoi, Department of Education, DU, Prof. M. Gogoi, Department of Education, DU, Prof. DevidKardong, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, DU and other faculty members of the University. The garden is initiated with a financial support of NSS Cell, Dibrugarh University. Around 100 saplings of local fruit trees are planted and taken care of for last two years. The initiative is taken specially with the objective to preserve the endangered species of local fruit trees. The B.Ed students of Department of Education maintained the garden as a part of their work-experience activities for the session January to July 2023. The whole initiative is being taken under the guidance of Dr. Amar Upadhyaya, Programme Officer, NSS PG Unit, Dibrugarh University.
