He also serves Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (A CSIR Institute) as Director in 1999-2004.

He was honored with various prestigious awards including twice by Senior Fulbright Award from US Federal Govt., J.G. Law Memorial Medal, M.R.N. Prasad Memorial Lecture Award, CSIR Technology Award, B. C. Guha Memorial Lecture Award, Kamal Kumari Memorial Award etc.

He was the President of “Asia and Oceania Society for Comparative Endocrinology (AOSCE)” from 2000 to 2004.

His area of research is Cell biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Signaling and Molecular basis of Diseases (Diabetes and Cancer).

He has guided 45 PhD Scholars, and has more than 135 National and International papers in peer reviewed journals, and 25 National/ International patents.

He is also a reviewer of various renowned journals including PLoS ONE, Biochemical Pharmacology, Molecular Biology Report, Cancer Letter, J. Biosciences and Current Science.
