Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) Dibrugarh University

With the objective of production and dissemination of audio-visual/multimedia programmes, conduct of relevant research, training of necessary manpower and promotion of related culture in the University system for the maximum utilization of the electronic media and ICT for education” the University Grants Commission, Govt. of India, has granted the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) to Dibrugarh University in 2012. The Authorities of Dibrugarh University has allotted a suitable infrastructure to the EMRC, in the campus of University. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the UGC, Consortium for Educational Communication, UGC (CEC,UGC) and the Dibrugarh University in 2015. The Centre is governed by a Board of Management under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University. The studio “Pragyavision” at EMRC, Dibrugarh University was inaugurated by Prof. Jagat Bhushan Nadda, Director, CEC on 22nd October, 2021.

From the very beginning the EMRC, DU has incessantly made its efforts to produce different educational videos and e-contents. It has already produced a documentary on the Dibrugarh University, which was broadcasted on DD 1, New Delhi on 16th January 2015.

Number of programmes produced by the EMRC, Dibrugarh University are listed below-

  • SWAYAM MOOCs = 07 nos.
  • E- Content = 19 nos.
  • Translation = 02 nos.
  • Considering the situation created by the COVID-19, the centre has decided to produce some educational videos based on the syllabus of different departments for the students of Dibrugarh University. The task has been completed successfully and more than 100 nos. of educational videos have been developed during the pandemic situation. These educational videos were being shared with the students and teachers of the concerned departments and centres.
