The 63rd National Teachers’ Day has been celebrated at Dibrugarh University in honor of the dedication and untiring contribution of the teaching fraternity. The programme has been graced by the presence of Honorable Mr. Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Former Chief Justice of India and member of Rajya Sabha. Emphasizing the role of teachers in nation building Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gogoi stated that teachers should consider their profession not simply as a job but as a service for making human resource so that students can play a pivotal role for the development of nation. While addressing the august gathering Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Jiten Hazarika commented that teachers feel sense of success when their students become responsible persons by increasing their capability to lead the society.
On this very occasion, Dibrugarh University conferred Teacher Awards in different categories to both the teachers of the University and its affiliated colleges. The Upendra Nath Gogoi Memorial Dibrugarh University Teacher Award 2024 under the category Assistant Professor, Faculty of Sciences has been awarded to Dr. Anapaul Boruah, Assistant Professor from the Dept. of Chemistry and the in the category, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Sciences of the Centre for Studies has been conferred to Dr. Sanchaita Rajkhowa from the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Dibrugarh University. The Dibrugarh University Teacher Award 2024 under the category Assistant Professor, Disciplines of Humanities & Commerce of its affiliated colleges has been conferred to Dr. Bidyut Bora, Assistant Professor from the Dept. of Political Science, Jorhat College (Amalgamated) while the award for the Disciplines of Science of its affiliated colleges has been conferred to Dr. Neha Rani Kumar, Assistant Professor from the Dept. of Chemistry, Dhemaji College. While speaking on significance of the day, Sri Dilip Kumar Gogoi, the contributor of the Upendranath Gogoi Memorial Endowment fund traced the need of value education in contemporary education system. The programme was graced by Dr. Paramananda Sonowal, Registrar, Dibrugarh University and Mrs. Rupanjali Gogoi, the better half of Justice Mr. Ranjan Gogoi on the dais along with presence of all the Deans of the University, Teachers, Officers, Employees, Research Scholars and Students. The celebration concluded with the vote of thanks offered by Dr. P.K. Kakoty, Controller of Examinations and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee while the programme was hosted by Dr. Manashree Chetia, Assistant Professor, Centre for Studies in Philosophy, Dibrugarh University.
