Dibrugarh University centrally observed teachers day on 5th September 2023 in the Rangghar Auditorium. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. P. Kakoty who laid out the agenda for the day. The guest of honour for the event was former Prof.N. K. Handique, formerly with the Department of Assamese, Dibrugarh University who spoke on the importance and value of education and guidance. The event was also graced by Mr. Dilip Kumar Gogoi, a retired teacher and school administrator of Simen Chapori who has contributed an amount of 30 lakhs to the University in his father’s name based on which an award named Upendra Nath Gogoi Memorial Dibrugarh University Teacher Award has been constituted by the University to honour the contribution, dedication and commitment of teachers of the University. Mr. Gogoi spoke at length on the importance of education and contributing to society.
In this event the Upendra Nath Gogoi Memorial Dibrugarh University Teacher Award 2023 was awarded to Dr. Kalyanjyoti Deori ( Faculties of Science and Engineering, Earth Sciences and Energy and Biological sciences) and Dr. Obja Borah Hazarika (Faculties of Humanities and law, Social Sciences, Education, Commerce and Management Science) at the Assistant Professor level.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Jiten Hazarika spoke on the importance of education as a central pillar of societal improvement and urged the audience to continue their work with dedication.
The registrar Dr. Paramananda Sonowal spoke on the way in which the event was planned and implemented and concluded the program by stressing that teaching is always a continuous process.
