First International Conference on Fourth Industrial Revolution and Higher Education organized by DUIET, Dibrugarh University during 23-25 February, 2023

The 1st International Conference on Fourth Industrial Revolution and Higher Education (FIRHE-2023) was successfully organized by Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Dibrugarh University in collaboration with All India Council for Technical Education, Oil India Ltd, Duliajan and Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Ltd, Dibrugarh during 23-25 February, 2023.

The conference began with inaugural programme starting with the State Anthem, followed by the Dibrugarh University Anthem. After felicitation of Chief Guest and dignitaries, the lightening of conference lamp had been done in the presence of Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Mr. Prasanta Borkakoty, Resident Chief Executive, Oil India Ltd. Duliajan, Prof. S.C. Kakaty, Dean Faculty of Science and Engineering, Dibrugarh University, Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora, Director of DUIET. The welcome address of the inauguration ceremony had been delivered by Dr. Niranjan Bora, Joint Convenor of FIRHE-2023. In the welcoming address, he highlighted the details of the Conference including of the expected outcome and how the Conference will be beneficial for the students, research scholar, faculty members and industrialist of diverse scientific domains. Then, Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora delivered his speech as an Institute head with brief overview and objective of the International conference. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University delivered a very absorbing and thought-provoking speech which highlights the possible industry academia relationship of Dibrugarh University with the Industries of global interest in the line of Industry 4.0. In his address, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor also emphasised on the importance and opportunities of Industry 4.0 for developed and developing countries to achieve economic growth and sustainable development in the line of United Nation Sustainable Development Goal (SGD 2030). Mr. Prasanta Borkakaty delivered a very well structured speech on possible fourth Industrial Revolution in Oil and related Industries as a Chief Guest of the conference. In his address, the Guest of Honour Prof. S C Kakaty highlighted the efficient use of future technology and its advantage and disadvantage. Then the Book of Abstract of the Conference had been released by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University in presence of delegates and other dignitaries present in the conference. The Vote of thanks of the inauguration ceremony has been given by Dr. Nomi Baruah, Joint Convenor of FIRHE-2023. The inauguration programme had been ended with the “National Anthem”.

In this conference, one resource person each from United States of America and Thailand and five Resource persons from India delivered plenary talks. The Resource person Mr. Satyaesha Simha, Former Chief General Manager, BEML, India delivered his talk on “Automation in Mining Machinery-Electric Rope Shovels”. Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora, Director, DUIET talked on the topic entitled “An Overview of Industry 4.0 & its impact on Higher Education”. Prof. Ganesh Bora, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville State University, USA delivered his talk on “Circular Economy and its Potential for Employment”. Prof. Khanindra Pathak, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur delivered his talk on “Role of Digital Pedagogy for Hybrid Learning in the Era of Fourth Industrial Revolution”. Prof. Uday Shanker Dixit, Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati presented a talk on “Impact of 3D printing on Education”. Mr. Gautaam Borah, CEO & Co-Founder, Sarikart delivered his talk on the tpopic “The Future is now: Harnessing the Power of Web 3.0, AI and ML in Industry 4.0”. Prof. Nitin K. Tripathi, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand delivered his talk on “Industrial Revolution and Education”. Dr. Shreekant Sharma, Faculty of National Institute for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India presented a very informative talk on “Digital Farming and Future Agripreneurship in the era of Industry 4.0”.

The Conference was conducted with seven parallel technical sessions chaired by distinguished professors from diverse scientific domains. Moreover, a cultural programme was also arranged to show rich culture of Assamese people before the delegates and other dignitaries from different parts of the country. The cultural Programme was coordinated by Dr. Purabi Gogoi, Assistant Professor of Physics, DUIET. The conference ended with a valedictory programme where the Joint Convener Dr. Bhargabjyoti Saikia delivered a welcome address to the gathering. The programme was finally ended with a vote of thanks from Mr Kaushik Das, Joint Convener of FIRHE-2023 followed by the National Anthem.
