Every year, National Technology Day is celebrated across India on 11th May to memorize the anniversary of Shakti, the Pokhran nuclear test held on 11th May 1998. Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University, celebrated National Technology Day on 11th May 2022 at the Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University. The mode of conduct was online during the morning session and hybrid during the afternoon session. As one of the convenors of the event, Dr. Nimisha Dutta hosted the event. The event began with the Welcome address by the Head of the Department of Physics, Dibrugarh University. Prof. L.K Nath, Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University, delivered the inaugural speech focusing on the importance of the observation of the National Technology Day. His speech threw light on the important aspect of this day of innovation and technology.
Prof. AJITH ABRAHAM, Director of Machine Intelligence Research (MIR) Labs, USA, Emeritus Editor: Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Elsevier (Editor-in-Chief: 2016-2021) Chair: IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Society, Technical Committee on Soft Computing (2008-2021), was one of the eminent speakers for the event. The topic of his talk was “Industry 4.0: The Role of AI and Data Science”. He delivered his talk via online mode. His valuable words were a source of motivation and encouragement in broadening the scope of remarkable innovations across the traditional boundaries enhancing the ability to learn and adapt oneself on the fly. He imparted his knowledge on huge, efficient and remarkable innovation based on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in various industrial fields including medical, which will create a new landmark in the history of mankind.
Guest speaker of the event, Mr. Madhurjya Prakash Baruah, Additional Director at STPI, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Govt. Of India delivered his talk via online mode on “Indian IT/ITES industry and some government initiatives”.
His talk highlighted upon the current advancements and the gradual evolution of the Indian IT industry. The major growth and progress our country has made during the past years and also amidst the pandemic was well portrayed by the eminent speaker. In addition to that, the factors contributing to IT growth in India was also stressed upon. The growing IT market size along with National policy and software products of India was also well explained by the distinguished speaker.
Dr. Pranjal Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Instrumentation and USIC, Gauhati University, Gauhati, Assam delivered his talk via hybrid mode on “Trends in Science and Technology for a Sustained Future-An Approach to the Students”. His talk aimed at the mode of human development to meet human needs while ensuring the sustainability of natural system and environment emphasizing the development of technology in the field of agricultural, renewable energy and energy harvesting. His talk highlighted on the role of satellites on the sustainable development. Speaking on the theme he stressed upon the full utilization of little resources. He mentioned the development of technology during the Vedic age and the roots of Indian origin.
Respected deans, faculties, research scholars, all the participants from Dibrugarh University as well as from other institutions attended the talk of Prof. Ajith Abraham, Mr. Madhurjya Prakash Baruah and Dr. Pranjal Borah.
