The NSS Cell, Dibrugarh University have organized a voluntary blood donation camp on 25th March, 2022 in association with the NCC Unit, NSS DUPG Unit, DUPGSU and DURSA at the Bishnurabha Ranngamancha and Health Centre of Dibrugarh University. The program was supported by the Blood Bank of Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. Despite bad weather conditions, NSS volunteers from Digboi College, DDR College and North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) also participated and donated blood during the programme. Altogether 76 units of blood were donated and deposited in the blood bank of Assam Medical College from the camp. Mr. Atul Sonowal, an Ex. NSS volunteer of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) who has already donated blood for 76 times till date was felicitated with Assamese phulam gamucha and a Saphura. Dr. Rashmi Phukan, Senior Medical Officer of Dibrugarh University addressed the student gathering and described the significance of the blood donation and praised the student donors for overwhelming response by dint of the bad weather condition. Dr. Devid Kardong, Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell (DU), Prof. Surajit Borkotoky, Dr. Mantu Baro (Associate NCC Officer), Mr. Ranadra Khaund, NSS PO of DDR College, Mr. Pranjit Baruah and Mr. Rajkumar Bhorali were amongst the prominent donors in the today’s camp.
In this context, a blood donation awareness rally was also carried out on 24th March, 2022. The rally which was inaugurated by Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Registrar (D.U) was also participated by teachers, officers, students, research scholars, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets. During the inauguration of the rally, Prof. Jiten Hazarika and Dr. Binud Borah (Joint Registrar, Acad.) highlighted the necessity and significance of blood donation in their brief speeches.
