National Productivity Week 2022 Observed at CMS

The Centre for Management Studies observed the National Productivity Week 2022 with the theme Self Reliance through Productivity by organizing an invited lecture on March 15, 2022. The programme was held under the aegis of the Assam Productivity Council, an NGO based out of Tinsukia, Assam. The lecture was given by Mr. Prantik Sharma, Chief Manager (Marketing) at Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), Lepetkata, Dibrugarh. Mr. Sharma did his BE from Assam Engineering College and MBA from Gauhati University. He has 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the Petroleum and Petrochemical Sector. He has worked both in the private and public sector.

The programme started with a talk by Mr. B P Bakshi from Assam Productivity Council gave a detailed overview of Productivity, the Productivity movement in India and Assam and the work carried out by the Council. B P Bakshi is a father figure of the industrial ecosystem of Upper Assam and is the man behind the Assam Productivity Council. He is also a former member of the Executive Council of Dibrugarh University and a former member of the Board of Management of the Centre. He is a product of the famed XLRI, Jamshedpur. Thereafter, Prof. Pranjal Bezborah, founder Director-in-charge of the Centre gave a brief talk as an invited guest on the theme of the Productivity Week. He also donated a collection of Productivity Quotes put in a laminated frame for the Library of the Centre. It was followed by the invited lecture from Mr. Prantik Sharma. He in his lively lecture interspersed with interesting anecdotes covered the complete gamut of the theme. He gave the example of his own organization BCPL to give insights into self-reliance. Mr. Sharma also exhorted the young students to be employers and not employees.

The lecture was followed by a competition for the best two questions asked to the guests. Six questions were put out of which the questions put by Ms. Basobee Sreemoyee and Ms. Monisha Borthakur were adjudged the winners. The questions were answered by the guests. During the question – answer session, Prof. Kumud Chandra Goswami, Chairperson of the Centre requested the students to make the best possible use of the resources of the Centre to become productive.The programme was hosted by Mr. Pransu Raj Kaushik, Assistant Professor at the Centre.
