Seventy-Third Republic Day Celebrated at Dibrugarh University

The 73rd Republic Day of the nation was celebrated at Dibrugarh University on January 26, 2022 in the University Administrative Block premises. Professor L.K. Nath, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor i/c, Dibrugarh University, unfurled the national flag and Prof. Jiten Hazarika, the Registrar, hoisted the university flag in the presence of Teachers, officers, employees, research scholars, students and guests. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor delivered a valuable and motivational speech on the occasion. He highlighted the contribution of the leaders and distinguished personalities as well as common people towards nation-building and development.

On the occasion of Republic Day, the university felicitated Mr. Paban Talukdar, Security Officer, with a certificate of appreciation and a traditional Assamese Gamosa for his sincere and dedicated service towards maintaining safety, security and a good environment in the university. In his short speech, Prof. Hazarika disclosed the planning of felicitation to sincere and dedicated persons discharging their duties and responsibilities for the overall growth and development of the university on the occasion of Independence Day in upcoming years. The authority also felicitated the female security personnel of the university with a traditional Assamese Gaomsa for their dedicated service.

On this memorable occasion, Dr. Paramananda Sonowal, Joint Registrar (Administration), on behalf of the university, felicitated Dr. Mantu Baro, Assistant Professor & Director In-charge of Centre for Studies in Physical Education and Sports and Associate NCC Officer of the University for achieving the award of DG NCC Commendation Card for the year 2021 for utmost sincerity, dedication and exemplary performance in NCC which was presented during RDC-2022, Delhi,


As part of the Republic Day celebration, a plantation programme was also held in the University premises. Teachers, Officers and employees along with the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, participated in the plantation programme. Various fruit trees and Royal Palm trees were planted near Administrative Block and the roadside approaching the Dibrugarh University Residential area of West Campus and Model School. Dr. Kaustuvmoni Nath acted as the anchor of the programme.
