The First Annada Charan Bhagabati Annual Memorial Lecture, organized by the Department of Anthropology, Dibrugarh University, was held at Indira Miri Conference Hall of the University on 29th November, 2021. Prof. T.B. Subba, former Vice-Chancellor, Sikkim University and Professor, Department of Anthropology, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, was the invited speaker. Prof. Subba delivered his lecture on “Is Specialization a threat to Integration in Anthropology? Some Thoughts for Professional Anthropologists”.
The programme started with a welcome address by Prof. Nitul Kumar Gogoi, Head, Department of Anthropology, Dibrugarh University, followed by Lighting of Lamp and Floral Tribute to Late. Prof. Annada Charan Bhagabati. Prof. L.K. Nath, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University and Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Registrar, Dibrugarh University were present at the function. During the event, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University released an edited book entitled, “India’s North-East: Contribution of Anthropology”. The programme was live webcast and many participants from different Colleges and Universities within and outside Assam joined (online and offline).
