A Five Day International Webinar on Changing Academic Library Management Practices and Services was held in Dibrugarh University from 3-7 August, 2020. The webinar was organized by the Centre for Library and Information Science Studies of Dibrugrh University in collaboration with the Lakshminath Bezbaroa Library, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh. The webinar was started on 3rd August 2020 with an inaugural speech from Dr. (Mrs.) Daisy Bora Talukdar, Professor, Department of Education, Dibrugarh University, and Dean, Faculty of Education, Dibrugarh Univesity. Before the inaugural speech, Dr. Utpal Das, Chairperson of the Centre for Library and Information Science Studies, Dibrugrh University, and the Deputy Librarian, Lakshminath Bezbaroa Library, Dibrugarh University highlighted the objective of the international webinar and welcomed all the resource persons and participants. Altogether six international resource persons of repute from various countries joined in the webinar, presented and deliberated their thoughts and interacted with the participants.
The international resource persons who joined are namely, Mary Anderson Ochs, and Jim Morris-Knower, respectively Former Director and Present Director of Albert R. Mann Library, Ithaca, NY, USA, Mr. Chen wei Chen from Shandong, P. R., China, Prof. Bhim Dhoj Shrestha from Trivuban University, Nepal, Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson, DISLM, East West University, Dhaka and Dr. T. Pratheepan, Acting Librarian, Uva Wellasa University, Sri Lanka. Along with these international resource persons, many reputed personalities from various Universities and Institutions of India also joined in the webinar as resource persons. They are namely, Dr. Partha Pratim Das, Professor, & Jt. P.I., NDLI Project, IIT Kharagpur, Dr. Tamal Kumar Guha, Librarian, IIT Guwahati, Dr. Narendra Lahkar, Professor (Retd.) and President, Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC), Kolkata, Dr. S. K. Singh, Professor and Head, DLISc, Gauhati University, Prof. R. Sevukan from Pondichery University. Puducherry, and Dr. Utpal Das, Chairperson, CLISS and Deputy Librarian of Dibrugarh University.
There were more than 1200 registered participants from various countries like Tanzania, UAE, Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Nepal, including from almost all the states of India. There were huge responses from the participants with positive feedback all around. The participants were provided with e-certificates after completion of the 5 day international webinar on 7th August 2020.
