Dibrugarh University observed 6th International Day of Yoga

With the message “Yoga from Home for Save and Healthy Life” on Centre for Studies in Physical Education and Sports and NCC Unit, Dibrugarh University observed 6th International Yoga Day on 21.06.2020 from 7.30 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. through GOOGLE MEET VIDEO Conferencing and Live Streaming. Prof. Nirode Boruah, Dean, Student Affairs and Prof. of History, Dibrugarh University inaugurated the programme. In his inauguration speech, he opined about the necessity of yoga in daily life. He also pointed out the historical perspective of Yoga and relevance of Yoga in present context.

Mr. Bikash Boruah, M.P.Ed., M.A. in Yoga and Naturopathy, PGDYN, M.Phil Scholar, International Yoga Silver medal winner, International Yoga Grade C Referee, owner and practitioner of “AAROGYA” at Downtown and “AARAGYA AXOM” Kahilipara” and Alumni of Centre for Studies in Physical Education and Sports, Dibrugarh University attended as resource person and delivered some valuable information on Management of Thyroid, Diabetes Mellitus 2, Hypertension, Stress and Mental Bliss through Yogic Exercise. In his speech, he suggested a few basic common yogic exercises and their benefit with demonstration for sedentary people to manage aforesaid health issues.  Mr. Satya Changmai, Assistant Professor of Physical Education and Sports, Dibrugarh University also delivered valuable speech on basic concept of Yoga and Meditation. Mr. Paban Buragohain, International Yoga Player, Sibsagarh demonstrated few common and advance yogic exercise for the participants.

Professor, Jiten Hazarika, HoD, Dept. of Statistics and former Dean, Student Affairs, Dibrugarh University and Prof. Mukut Hazarika, Dept. of Education and former Dean, Faculty of Education also graced the occasion and opined and appreciate the initiative of organizers for choosing relevant theme and topic.

At the very outset of the programme, Dr. Mantu Baro, Assistant Professor and in charge of Centre for Studies in Physical Education and Sports Associate NCC Officer, Dibrugarh Univesity welcomed all dignitaries and participants. In his welcome speech he stressed on the health and fitness issue of peoples and requested all to devote little time from their busy schedule for health and fitness to keep the fitness throughout the life. He also offered vote of thanks to Dibrugarh University authority, dignitaries, resource persons, participants from across the country and at last but not the least to Mr. Gunadeep Chetia, Programmer, Dibrugarh University for technical guidance and print and electronic media for their kind cooperation.
