Symposium on Online Marketing & Direct Tax

The Department of Commerce, Dibrugarh University has organized Two day Symposium on “Online Marketing and Direct Tax” during February 27-28, 2020 at the Conference Hall of Centre for Management Studies, D.U. On 27th February the Inaugural Session was graced by the presence of Prof. Ranjit Tamuli, the Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University and Prof. Robita Sorokhaibam of Manipur University who was the Resource Person for the first technical session on the theme “Online Marketing”.

Dr. Chimun Kumar Nath, Head, Departmemnt of Commere, D.U. welcomed the dignitaries to the symposium and appraised the backdrop of organizing the symposium to the august gathering. Prof. Ashit Saha, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Science, D.U. in his speech explained particularly the student participants about the concept of symposium and followed by a brief deliberation on the theme of this symposium. In his inaugural remark, Prof. Ranjit Tamuli, the Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University has congratulated the Department for selecting such a contemporary and relevant topic for deliberation and discussion in the Symposium.  While uttering the relevance of online marketing he cautioned the audience about the mishandling of electronic platform and security issues associated with online purchases. Regarding the theme on Personal Taxation and revival of Indian Economy, he opined that now a days the taxation in India is not so simple. “Introduction of optional tax payment may create confusion among the tax payers”, he added. He urged upon to discuss on this matter and to draw a mechanism to simplify such complexities. Prof. Robita Sorokhaibam in her remark has appreciated the Team Dibrugarh University for the hospitality extended and maintaining a green and peaceful environment in the campus. The session ended with a vote of thanks extended by Dr. Bipasha C. Barua, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, D.U.

The first Technical Session on the Theme “Online Marketing” was chaired by Prof. Robita Sorokhaibam who has delivered a very informative Key presentation. There were four invited paper presenters in the panel. The session was coordinated by Prof. Ajanta B. Rajkonwar and Academic Coordinator Prof. Seema S. Singha, both are Professors of Department of Commerce, D.U.

The second Technical Session on the Theme “Personal Taxation and Revival of Indian Economy” was held on February 28, 2020. Prof. Ashit Saha, the Coordinator of this Technical Session has initiated the session with a brief idea about the theme. Prof. S. S. Sarkar of Tezpur University was the Resource Person for this Technical session has delivered a very thought provoking Key presentation. There were three invited paper presenters in the panel. The two day symposium ended with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Chimun Kumar Nath, Head, Dept of Commerce, D.U.
