A Programme on “Aitas, Meieids and Gaon Buris: Our Foremothers’ Voices” held at Department of Political Science

On the 14th of February, 2020 the Department of Political Science in association with Zubaan Publishers, The Sasakawa Peace Foundation organised a conversation on Aitas, Meieids and Gaon Buris: Our foremothers’ voices with Urvashi Butalia, Prof. Jahnabi Gogoi, Ronnie Nido, Jobeth Warjri and Leki Thungon. While Ronnie, Jobeth and Warjri all recipients of the Young Zubaan fellowship from Northeast India presented their work, Urvashi Butalia, founder of Zubaan, encouraged young scholars from Dibrugarh University to apply for the fellowship. The panel and participants present discussed issues on feminism, feminism in North East India, politics of memory and the like emphasising on the need to document women’s voices from Northeast India.
