2019 Edition of Rhapsody held on October 19, 2019

The MBA (FT) 2019 batch of the Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University organized the 2019 edition of Rhapsody on 19th October, 2019 in the Conference Hall of the Centre. Rhapsody is organized every year by the MBA (FT) 1st Semester students of the Centre as part of requirements of the core course on Computer Applications in Management. The theme of this year’s Rhapsody was Technology Based Entrepreneurship. The speaker was Mr. Piyush Pandey who has his startup at New Delhi called InternNexus and leads it as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Mr. Pandey is a web development expert and he completed his B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurgaon. He is also a trainer and visits campuses around the country to interact with students.

The opening remarks were given by the hosts – Mr. Safraj Farhad Ullah and Ms. Namrata Mahanta, students of the MBA (FT) 2019 Batch. The Chairperson, Prof. Kumud Chandra Goswami then gave a speech welcoming Mr. Pandey to the Centre and appreciating the initiative to hold Rhapsody as part of the academic curriculum. He hoped that the students would be motivated by the young Piyush Pandey who has charted his own destiny by having his own startup.

Mr. Pandey in the first session of Rhapsody talked about the issues in having a startup and the difficulties of being an entrepreneur by discussing the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham on whose struggles, the movie Padman starring Akshay Kumar is based. He said that innovation can mean many things and for a person to innovate, he/she has to look for knowledge and skills. In the second session, he talked about his company InternNexus and the web portal internnexus.com. He discussed in details about the genesis of the web portal and his future plans. He exhorted the students to send him a marketing plan for the web portal and promised that if he likes the plan, the student in question would be offered the position of Marketing Head (North East) of his company. He also asked the students to register for the free services of the web portal. He answered the queries of the students in both the sessions.

At the end of the two sessions, Dr. Himadri Barman who is the brainchild behind Rhapsody talked about his own failure in building a startup called SystemX way back in 2002 and underlined the need to keep believing in whatever someone wants to do. Rhapsody ended with a vote of thanks by Ms. Namrata Mahanta.
